The Club at Old Hawthorne  in Columbia, MO hosted the 71st Missouri Women’s Golf Association Amateur Championship.   Chelsea Schriewer won her second consecutive title and will attempt to end her amateur career by attending LPGA Qualifying school this fall.  Alisha Matthews of St. Louis  and  a player on the Southern Illinois - Carbondale golf team took home the Cassett Trophy for her runner up finish.  Drury standout Katrina Choate captured third place. 
   The club’s strategically placed bunkers provided a tough defense of the difficult greens at Old Hawthorne. A rain delay on the first day lead to players having to stay focused in the late hours of the day. Chelsea had just arrived after winning a U.S. Amateur Qualifier playoff and was feeling confident with John Utley on her bag.  Alisha and Chelsea stayed tied through the second round and approached the third day paired together with Katrina Choate. Chelsea was untouchable during as an eagle on the ninth hole put her at three under with a 33 on the front nine.  After a 30 minute rain delay, play resumed and Chelsea caught fire. A birdie on 15 was followed by her first hole-in-one on the par three 16th. Another birdie on the 17th sealed the deal and her close approach shot on 18 gave her a total of 66 to tie the women's Old Hawthorne Club record. Alisha finished second while Katrina followed in third place. Past Champion Ellen Port of St. Louis put a new putter in her bag and placed fourth while Mindy Bullard Coyle managed a fifth place finish.
   Naomi Starr of Columbia, MO won the Peg Ludlow Memorial Award for having the low gross junior score.  The Team Trophy was awarded to Forest Hills Country Club for the low combined scores of Kristen Hamel and Kelsey Meyer both of Chesterfield, MO.
